Most 1s in SQL Server datetime value

Today is one of those rare days where you can see a lots of 1s in the date i.e, 11/11/2011. To add to that, the clock ticks 11:11:11 everyday, so I planned to capture the SQL Server datetime value returned by GETDATE() function. As I have to execute GETDATE() function at that exact moment, which is very unlikely, I used WAITFOR TIME statement as shown below..

SQL PASS Summit 2011 Pre-Conference Day1

I reached Seattle on Sunday afternoon, a day before PASS Summit 2011 Pre-Conference kick starts. This is my first visit to PASS Summit and I was all excited. Here you can see a pic taken from my mobile as soon as I entered the convention center.

I went straight to the registration booth and got my registration kit, which includes a Official PASS Summit badge, brochures from various participating sponsors / vendors,  booklet containing event details and last but not the least, PASS Summit 2011 Backpack. I went to breakfast along with few friends whom I have made while we were at the lobby. I could meet few fellow SQL Server DBA’s, Developers, SQL Server Users from various parts of the world ( from Belgium, Lebanon, China, New Zealand) apart from those coming from other parts of US.

Then I went to the Pre-Conference Seminar Secrets of the SQLOS by Maciej Pilecki (http://twitter.com/#!/DrHouseOfSQL)

The Session was very interesting and had a lot of things to learn. After the session was completed, I could catch up with Maciej and discussed some of my doubts and could grab a pic with him..

Later, I was off to my hotel and wrote some notes on what I had learned in today’s session.

Learn SQL With Bru completes 1 year

I started writing blogs under the name ”Learn SQL WIth Bru”, the first blog was published on August 10 2009. Today, Learn SQL With Bru completes 1st year and would like to take this as an opportunity to thank all the visitors and readers to the site.

When I began the blog, I was not aware how many blogs I would be writing or for that matter what SQL Server topics I would be writing on. Today when I review the blog’s content, I am reasonably happy that I wrote 62 blogs in the past year, most of which are technical blogs related to SQL Server. There are several areas in SQL Server that we tried to focus on such as Database Administration, Database Development, SSIS, Performance Tuning, SQL Server Tips etc. There are multiple sections added to the website making it more than a blog site. I started section such as SQL Server Tidbits in which, each day a new point has been published (now discontinued since July 1st 2010) and there is an Interview Q and A section, SQL Server Forum to post and seek answers to technical questions related to SQL Server and the recent addition of Learn SQL Server Section which tries to teach SQL Server for a beginner / intermediate level reader.

I would once again thank all the readers of this site for coming back and reading. Finally I hope not to disappoint anyone in the year to come by writing more technical blogs that would enable readers to apply it at their work or enhanve their understanding of SQL Server.
